From tracks to traps, discover practical approaches for trapping small mammals.

This course will cover trapping methods for both diurnal and nocturnal small mammals. Handling procedures, health and safety when working with small mammals, grid design, use of cameras in trapping studies, and identification of several different species of small mammals while on site. We hope you leave the workshop with the ability to think like a rodent!

Dalton Stanfield

Dalton Stanfield has worked with small mammals for over a decade and has trapped for a variety of listed small mammals in Southern California. He currently also works with the Mohave Ground Squirrel Conservation Council on various projects working to better understand the Mohave Ground Squirrel and is the Principal Investigator for Meadowlark Ecological Consulting, LLC.

By registering for this workshop, you are supporting a non-profit organization that relies on registration fees, donations, and grants to operate. Therefore, full payment is required at the time of registration.

 

If you need to cancel, you have two options:

You may consider your payment a generous donation to a cause that will use your contribution wisely.

Logistics information

 

Traveling to Ensenada

Our meeting point will be in Ensenada at 11 am, on the first day, directions are easy, but if you need any help, let us now. 

 

Lodging

You can camp at the site, price is $300 pesos, (~ $20) dlls per night. There are no services at the site, except for an outhouse. No electricity, no wifi, no water. But the place is beautiful!

Food

Please bring your own food and cooking utensils. There are restaurants about 25 min away, and oxxo’s in case you need extra supplies.
