Education and scientific outreach

Environmental education is a key element in the success of biodiversity conservation, which should seek to make society take ownership of its natural environment and take actions for its conservation. For this, we seek to implement actions that allow the interaction of society with the environment, to achieve a bond of respect and admiration, leading to the constant care of our biodiversity.

Naturalist workshop

We collaborate with CONABIO to teach workshops for the Naturalist citizen science platform.

Atlas of amphibians and reptiles

We collaborated with the San Diego Natural History Museum on the Atlas of Amphibians and Reptiles of Peninsular California.

Restoration of scientific collections

We are collaborating with the Herpetology Department of the San Diego Natural History Museum to restore and maintain the Baja California amphibian and reptile collections and make them accessible to the public.

Taller Lagartijas como modelo de estudio ante el cambio climático

The workshop “Lizards as a study model in the face of climate change” was given by researchers from CIBNOR, the Institute of Biology of UNAM and FAUNO, A.C.

BioBlitz

Border BioBlitz, along with the Herpetology Club, UABC and Fauna del Noroeste, this project was a collaborative initiative with the Next Generation of Sonoran Desert Researchers (N-Gen) to document the biodiversity of both sides of the U.S.-Mexico border. Workshop Sapos y ranazos

We participated in collaboration with the Caracol Science Museum with the workshop “Toads and frogs”, as part of the 2nd anniversary of the museum. Aimed mainly at primary and secondary school children, as well as the general public. Between talks, exhibition of live animals and photographic exhibition we approached topics about generalities and differences of amphibians and reptiles.

Day of the Earth workshop

In collaboration with the UABC Herpetology Club, the faun team participated in the Earth Day event at the Caracol Science Museum, where we disseminated information about the amphibian and reptile species of the region, their importance and richness in the northwestern region of Baja California.

Biodiversity day

On May 26th Fauna del Noroeste and the Herpetology Club once again provided information about amphibians and reptiles of the region. The activities took place at the Caracol Science Museum as part of the celebration of Biodiversity Day. These are some of the activities that took place.
